In 1960 Larry Dworzynski leased a Standard Oil service station in Schaumburg, IL (population 986).
In the 1980's Standard Oil Co. changed to Amoco (American Oil Co).
Larry's son, Dan, at age 31, took over the business in 1990, a short time after his father became ill.
In 1997, Amoco approached Dan and the Village of Schaumburg to discuss ending the lease as a service station and converting the business into a mini-mart.
Knowing the reputation of the business, the strong local customer base and Dan's opposition to the idea, Schaumburg was not going to allow Amoco to eliminate the service business and turn it into a mini mart.
