There is a classic photo - one that we first saw a good number of years ago - of some hard-working fellas gathered around an early model Ford atop a grease rack. This photo was taken probably around the 30s, at some sort of service station or working facility. Why the photo stuck with us is that the time period was special for cars and the services provided for them was personal.

Today services stations are called convenience stores and we use them for gas, first and foremost, and sodas and snacks after that. But do we get your car serviced there? Not at all. Most of the time we don't even talk to a human while there. We take our cars - our modern cars - to the oil change place or the dealership, and only when absolutely necessary.

It's a different era and modern cars have different needs than your classic and vintage autos, and that's where Vintage Auto Repair exists - to take care of your classic and vintage auto needs. We are the modern day shop, and guys, in this classic photo. We are the neighborhood shop where people gather for coffee and story telling while getting their classic cars serviced.
Services
One thing about this type of shop is that you can never have enough tools & equipment!
I have been collecting tools since my dad presented me with my first wrench set when I was about 13, and have never quit.
When he passed, I acquired his tools that he used in his body shop which was of course was a thrill for me not only to have, but to be able to use them in my business as well.
Besides the usual mountain of hand tools, we have a great collection of specialty tools & equipment.
We also have a large library of parts & reference books, vintage manuals & wiring diagrams dating back to the thirties.
I was born and raised in the L.A. area of California.
My first job was delivering newspapers - back when such a thing was delivered - at 8 years old.
Newspaper delivery was work on a bike, and a little easier by car - so an appreciation of them came early.
At age 15 I got a job parking cars, so I found myself in and around so many that my appreciation grew.
I moved to Arizona in 1978 and started building 4x4s - a bigger beast than a drag car, but lots of horsepower all the same.
Shortly after moving to AZ I met my wife, marrying her a few years later.
I recently bought a 1956 Nomad.
I am not a mechanic so I needed a reliable company to work on my car.
I was referred to Terry McGavern at Vintage Auto Repair.
Terry and the team have done marvelous work and have made my Nomad a mechanically sound car.
Terry took me step by step through the process and what needed to be done to the car.
I was worried I would not find someone I could trust to work on a classic car.
I am so glad I found Vintage Auto Repair.
Terry and the team are fair, honest and qualified with a proven track record.
